  1.    WELCOME/CALL TO ORDER
    1. Principal Laura Gutierrez, welcomed the committee/council.
    2. The meeting was called to order at 2:45pm by Principal Gutierrez.

 

  1.    FLAG SALUTE
    1.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Principal Gutierrez.

 

  1.    ROLL CALL
    1. Roll call was conducted by Principal Gutierrez.
    2. Quorum was established.

 

  1.    MINUTES
    1. Minutes were read.  A motion was made by Ms. Gutierrez to accept the minutes as they were.  It was seconded by Ms. Raida.  The motion was passed.

 

  1. NEW BUSINESS
    1. Review Clifford Data 2015-2018 (3 year trend) - The council reviewed data in the following key areas: Attendance, SBAC, DIBELs, Report Card, SPSA 2018-19 goals.
    2. The council found that the data indicates that the school has made steady improvements and progress the past 3 years.  Students in the intensive need bands has gone down in DIBELs.  On SBAC, the school has made growth in ELA more than Math.
    3. Contributing factors to the data include:
      1. The switch from DIBELs to TRC in upper grades;
      2. the complexity of curriculum from grades 5 to 6;
      3. The socio-emotional support provided to students from RSP.
      4. Attendance
    4. Strengths for Clifford:
      1. SBAC individual growth
      2. Attendance has improved
    5. What areas of improvement are needed:
      1. Math problem solving
      2. Low enrollment school wide
      3. Limited English Proficient students not making adequate progress in ELA.
    6. Suggested next steps:
      1. Professional Development in Mathematics
      2. Progress Monitoring students regularly
      3. Intervention that is skills based
      4. Goals for each grade level
      5. Celebrate student successes

  1. ANNOUNCEMENTS
    1. Ms. Flynn, UTLA representative discussed the latest development with regards to the potential job action.  She stated that the district and teacher’s union were in mediation in the fact finding stage.  Teachers would be providing parents more information in off campus discussions.
    2. Principal Gutierrez stated that schools would be open for business and that district personnel have been assigned to assist, should a work stoppage occur.
    3. Upcoming Events announced by Ms. Gutierrez include: Family Movie Night taking place Friday, December 7 from 5:00 - 7:00PM.  The Winter Parent Performance - Friday, December 14 @ 11:00AM.

    1. An opportunity was given for members of the public to present to the committee/council.  However, there were none addressed.

    3. The results were (all) in favor, (none) opposed and (no) abstentions.

  1.   WELCOME/CALL TO ORDER

    1. Principal Laura Gutierrez, welcomed the committee/council.

    2. The meeting was called to order at 2:45pm by Principal Gutierrez.

    1. Minutes were read.  A motion was made by Ms. Bezner to accept the minutes as they were.  It was seconded by Ms. Raida. The motion was passed.

 

  1. NEW BUSINESS

    1. EVALUATION OF THE 2017-18 SPSA

Principal Gutierrez provided the council with an evaluation of the 2017-18 SPSA.  The results were as follows:

For 100% graduation:

By June 2018, the percentage of students in grades 3-6 receiving a score of 1 (not proficient) or 2 (partially proficient) in math in the 3rd reporting period Report Card will decrease to 15%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of students with 96% or higher attendance will increase to 72%

For 100% graduation:

By June 2018, the percentage of students in grades 3-6 receiving a score of 1 (not proficient) or 2 (partially proficient) in math in the 3rd reporting period Report Card was 20%.

 

In June 2018, the percentage of students with 96% or higher attendance was 77.6%.

For ELA:

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades K - 2 meeting end-of-year benchmark on DIBELS will be at 70%

 

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades 3 - 6 at Standard Met or Standard Exceeded in the Smarter Balanced Consortium Assessment for English Language Arts will be at 72%.

For ELA:

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades K - 2 meeting end-of-year benchmark on DIBELS was 73%

 

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades 3 - 6 at Standard Met or Standard Exceeded in the Smarter Balanced Consortium Assessment for English Language Arts was 63%.

In Math:

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades 3 - 6 at Standard Met or Standard Exceeded in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium for Mathematics will be at 70%.

In Math:

By June 2018, the overall percentage of students in grades 3 - 6 at Standard Met or Standard Exceeded in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium for Mathematics was 58%.

In English Learners Program:

By June 2018, the percentage of English learners who score Benchmark on all subtests of DIBELS will be at 40%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of Long Term English Learners will be at 5%.

In English Learners Program:

By June 2018, the percentage of English learners who composite score was Benchmark or above on DIBELS was 46%

 

By June 2018, the percentage of Long Term English Learners was 0.

In Culture and Climate:

By June 2018, the percentage of the overall parents participating in the completion of the School Experience Survey will increase to 65%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of responses in agreement to the statement, "My child's teachers let me know about my child's progress," will be at 75%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of responses in agreement by students to the statement, "Teachers go out of their way to help their students," will be at 90%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of responses in agreement by teachers to the statement, "At this school, decisions are made based on student's needs and interests," will be at 90%.

In Culture and Climate:

In Socio-Emotional:

By June 2018, the percentage of students with 96% or higher attendance was 77.6%.

 

By June 2018, the percentage of staff with 96% or higher attendance was 86%.

b. Safe School Plan - Principal Gutierrez reviewed the Safe School Plan with the council.  It was suggested that the evacuation sites be shared with parents.

c. Reconfiguration of Clifford Math & Technology Magnet - Principal Gutierrez shared that the school has requested to reconfigure to a K-5 for the 2019-20 school year.

  1.   WELCOME/CALL TO ORDER

    1. Principal Laura Gutierrez, welcomed the committee/council.

    2. The meeting was called to order at 2:45pm by Principal Gutierrez.

    1. Minutes were not read as it is the first meeting of the school year. There were no minutes provided from the last meeting held in the previous school year.

 

  1. ELECTION OF OFFICERS

 

REVIEW OF THE COUNCIL’S ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Gutierrez gave a brief overview of the role and responsibility of the SSC Members and Officers. The Election Guidelines and Operating Norms were reviewed. All member seats were declared vacant.

 

QUORUM FOR OFFICER ELECTION

There were 9 voting members present. There are 10 members elected to the School Site Council for the 2018-19 school year.

 

CHAIRPERSON

The floor was opened for nominations for the position of Chairperson.

The electioneer asked three times if there were any more nominees then called for a motion to close nominations and accept the nominees for Chairperson.

The following members were elected to serve as Officers Anitra Flynn, Rondel Bezner, Rebecca Alvarado, and Malissa Castillo on the School Site Council for the 2018-19 school year.

 

VI.    NEW BUSINESS

  1. Review of the Bylaws - Principal Gutierrez provided information and the council was given handouts regarding the School Site Council Bylaws.  Bylaws were reviewed by committee members.

  2. Parent Engagement Policy and Parent School Compact - Principal Gutierrez shared the Parent Engagement Policy and Parent School Compact.  The council gave some suggestions on the activities and correcting the school name.

  3. Calendaring of SSC Meetings for the Year - Principal Gutierrez, along with the entire committee scheduled the following SSC meetings for the 2018-2019 school year.  The following are the agreed upon Mondays, beginning at 2:40PM.

    1. October 15th (Meeting #2)

    2. November 26th (Meeting #3)

    3. January 28th (Meeting #4)

    4. February 11th (Meeting #5)

    5. March 18th (Meeting #6)

    6. April 22th  (Meeting #7)

    7. May 20th (Meeting #8)

 

  1.   ACTION ITEM

    1. Review Approved Budget Expenditures for the TItle I funds 7S046 - Principal Gutierrez presented to the council for review a second allocation of TItle I Funds for accounts 7S046.  The allocation for account 7S046 is $7,590. Principal Gutierrez provided the council with the minutes from the April 10, 2018 meeting, to determine what expenditures were approved in last year’s budget that were not purchased, due to an increase in the coach’s funding.  The council agreed to add additional monies in Teacher X-Tutor time to provide intervention to students in the amount of $4,434.72. Six Substitute Days in the amount of $2,150.76 were purchased. The balance of $146.52 was put towards TA Relief.

 

The motion was made by Malissa Castillo, and seconded by Robin Raida. The results were (all) in favor, (none) opposed and (no) abstentions. The motion carried/motion was successful.

    1. An opportunity was given for members of the public to present to the committee/council.  Ms. Gutierrez suggested that the council discuss the safe school plan and the SPSA Evaluation.
